A father's very special book

Parker loves to read. To tell the truth, he loves to look through books and find pictures of apples. Then he points at them, smiles, and says "Appoo". He is so cute when he does that. But I digress...

On a flight from Houston to Seattle one day, I watched the free movie Despicable Me. I didn't expect it to be that great, but it had Steve Carell in it and I love him in The Office, so I figured I would give it a shot. It was actually kind of cute. But the main thing that I took away from it was that the main character didn't like all of the lame kids books that he was asked to read before bed each night. So he made one himself and read it to the kids. It made me cry.

That very week, while in Seattle, I began working on my own book for Parker. It took me quite a while, but I finally finished it last week. Here is the cover of the one-of-a-kind book I made for Parker. We read it for the first time last night and he loved it. He kept looking through it even after I tried to get him to read some other books with me.

I love my little boy!

Hip-hop Parker

Parker got a new hat the other day. Now, you should know that he really doesn't like having things on his head yet. But, he did think it was funny the other night to run around the hallway with his new hat on sideways. Especially when I saw that one leg of his pants was up and one was down. It reminded me of some of the kids nowadays that are into hip-hop. The only thing that would have made it more realistic is for him to wear his pants below his waist. Although, I guess showing diaper isn't as cool as showing your underwear. :)

So you think you can dance?

As you may or may not know, Parker loves to dance. Here are two videos featuring his dancing prowess. The first is one of him grooving to the iPad commercial. No matter what he is doing, when that commercial comes on, he stops, turns towards the TV, and begins to get his groove on.

The second video is from Gymboree this morning. Christen told me that the other day the school he attends was playing Who Let the Dogs Out when she arrived to pick him up. She said that he was just dancing his buns off. Well, today they played that song while we were waiting to start our class at Gymboree. He is a little more reserved here, but you can see he is moving to the music. :)

Portrait sessions

Despite being a semi-professional photographer, I will admit that sometimes it is nice to have someone else take pictures of your kid so you can just sit back and try to make him smile for the camera. Well, that is just what Christen did over the last few weeks. The first two photos below are from a portrait session at Sears. Yeah, I know, but you can't argue with the results. Parker appears to be enjoying the spot light in both photos. The third in the series is from school. Although the props are a little cheesy, he does look cute... even if I say so myself. :)

Learning to eat with utensils

Parker has been working hard to learn to eat with utensils. He started with a spoon a few weeks ago and he just recently introduced the fork. Check out his wicked skills!

A visit to the aquarium

Parker loved seeing all the fish this past weekend at the Houston Downtown Aquarium. Check out some of the pictures of him in action, soaking it all in. :)

Here's my favorite one... of course, I am a little biased. ;)

Swimin' with the fishes

Well, we didn't exactly swim with the fishes, but Santa did. We had breakfast with Santa today at the Houston Aquarium. Check out Santa and his helper elf behind Parker and Ms. Claus. Parker loved looking at all the fish. He got to see sharks, stingrays, eels, and a bunch of other types of fish. We ate sausage, bananas, eggs, waffles, pancakes, chicken fried steak, and bacon. Boy was it good!
